MATARIKI 2011 RESERVE MERLOT CABERNET
With the problems around for some in the 2011 vintage, once again the stony free draining soils and viticultural practices at Matariki have shone through.
While not as concentrated and intense as the recent 2009 and 2010 vintages, the 2011 has fully ripe fruit showing perhaps more toward ripe cherry, blackberry and plum with layers of graphite, supple tannins, cedar and savoury notes. After 2 years in oak and over 6 years aging in controlled conditions the wines have added complexity while retaining a beautiful fruitfulness.
