Stony Bay 2000 Sauvignon Blanc

A typical, fresh and clean Sauvignon Blanc, with delicious passionfruit and grapefruit aromas. Makes a lovely pre-dinner drink or match with seafood and summer salads.

Harvest

The mild dry autumn provided the right conditions for maximising the strong Sauvignon Blanc flavours for which New Zealand is renowned.

Vinification

The Matariki Sauvignon Blanc was whole bunch pressed and fermented in Stainless steel. The fermentation was cool to preserve fruit flavours and wine remained on lees for 2-4 months after fermentation prior to racking.

Composition

100% Hawkes Bay Sauvignon Blanc. 78% of this wine was purchased from another wine company while the remaining 22% was grown at Matariki on the Stony Bay vineyard.

Bottling

The wine was bottled at wineworks on the 26 of January 2001. There was  a total of 6,800 litres bottled.

Sensory

Colour: Pale straw with green hue and brilliant clarity. 
Aroma: Fresh and clean. Passionfruit and grapefruit aromas. 
Palate: Typically Sauvignon like. Crisp acid, citrus like fruit, clean and fresh. Tangy finish.

Cellaring

The wine is ready to drink now or cellar for 1 to 2 years.
