Wine Note

Powerfully structured wine.  Big ripe tannins and complex fruit, silky long finish and after taste.  Hand harvested individual batches, gently fermented and aged in French oak for 15 months.  A stunning wine that will continue to develop and complex with age.

Composition

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Gimblett Road Hawkes Bay.

Barrel Percentage

The first 12 months the wine was matured in new, one, two and three year old French barriques.  The last 8 months the wine was matured in new French oak barriques.

Bottling

The wine was bottled on the 21 February 2002.

Sensory

Colour:  Inky, almost black in colour. 
Aroma:  Intense ripe blueberry, blackberry fruit with complex tobacco and cedar characters on the nose. 
Palate:  Powerfully structured wine.  Big ripe tannins and complex fruit.  Very dry with a long finish and aftertaste.  Needs time to develop in the bottle.
