Wine Notes

Matariki 2006 Late Harvest Riesling

Wine Note

Golden straw with brilliant clarity.
Delicious perfumed aroma of ripe citrus fruits and manuka honey with hints of ginger and beeswax.
Intense, luscious approach with lovely fresh acid to balance the rich sweet palate. The wine shows complex layers of dried fruits and lemon intermingled with spice and honey, finishing fresh and long. A wonderful wine to enjoy with cheeses, dried fruit and nuts or pudding.

Fruit

100% Riesling from our Gimblett Road Vineyard, Hawke’s Bay.

Alcohol Content

Alc 11.5% v/v

Vinification

The grapes were gently destemmed and crushed and soaked on skins for a few hours. The grapes were then pressed slowly and over a number of hours to extract the sweetest juice from the grapes. The  juice was partially settled and then racked to a fermentation tank. The juice was inoculated with a selected yeast and fermentation was conducted at cool temperatures to retain flavour and control the ferment. Fermentation was arrested at about 160g/l residual sugar. Prior to bottling the wine was fined, stabilized and filtered.

Cellaring

Enjoy slightly chilled now through until 2010
